Polls Open for Early Voting

Long lines McCarren Pool

New York’s early voting opened today for the 2024 election, and some voters faced lines.

At McCarren park, the voting both had a significant line to enter the facility for most of the afternoon. The Williamsburg Community center where much of East Williamsburg could vote did not have a line out the door, but did have delays inside.

Early voting is available from 8am to 5pm, every day through Sunday November 3rd. Polling places are different than on election day, but the city’s Board of Elections has a polling place look up.

In addition to President, Senator Gillibrand is on the ballot as well as every House of Representatives seat, and the state legislature.

New York City voters also face 6 ballot proposals.

Question 1 is statewide proposal to enshrine abortion rights (Yes supports abortion rights). A Yes vote on question 1 is supported by the ACLU, Tish James, SAG-AFTRA, NOW, and others, as well as North Brooklyn Dispatch.

Questions 2 through 6 were hastily crafted by Eric Adams as a revision of the city charter to consolidate mayoral power and strip city council of checks and balances. Our position is that a mayor who is under indictment and facing other open investigations for corruption should not be re-writing the city charter.
