The smoke shop at 186 Scholes has been locked and seized.

The shop changed owners in recent years shifting from bodega into a dedicated smoke shop. The store sold more than just pipes, and the seizure notes improperly labeled products and sales to minors.

Back in September of 2023, the clerk working at the shop was short during an attempted robbery.

Smoke shops selling product without a license have become common place since legalization. Governor Hochul’s inaptitude at issuing licenses led shops to open without the correct paperwork. Typically the arrival of a license shop corresponds with a crackdown.

Customers will now have to walk to nearby Graham Avenue where several smoke shops remain. A license for one shop is pending approval, so these are likely not long for the world either.
