The Chiang Mai Diner had a soft open last month and is now serving up Thai food and drinks in a stunningly designed new restaurant space on the corner of Flushing and Central Avenue.

The restaurant has an expansive menu. Not only is it a mix of traditional Thai-American cuisine, but more contemporary Thai dishes.

There are some mixed pan-Asian American dishes as well like crab rangoon.

The menu includes a variety of fancy cocktails as well as wine and Thai beer.

The cocktail presentations are attractive in beautiful stemware, and while the drinks themselves tasted great, they were not quite as adventurous as they could have been.

The menu includes some house specialties, a section for noodle dishes, and soups, as well as an extensive choice of small plate appetizers.

The food was decent and the portions large. It might have been a better experience to have smaller plates (and proportionally smaller prices).

The spice level could have been higher, and the menu’s warning system maybe needs an adjustment. But over the flavors were good.

The interior is a mix of potted green plants, neon lights, and dreamy lanterns.

This spot is a fun, hip addition to the neighborhood.
