Dee Best Zeppole abruptly closed last month.

The local shop sold calzone, panzerotti, and the signature zeppole. The family-owned store started out selling the fried foods at Italian festivals like the Giglio Festival in Williamsburg each july.

The store faced headwinds from the beginning, with a planned build out and opening delayed by the 2020 pandemic. The store opened in late 2023.

In addition to the traditional calzones, the shop expanded the options. The food was made fresh to order, including stuffing the calzones before frying.
