New signs of life for a retail space on Bushwick Avenue at the corner of Montrose Avenue hints that the opening of a new cafe may be imminent.

Workers inside were cleaning the space for what could have been the final touches before opening, but with no posts on Instagram, it’s hard to know for sure.

Signs promise crepes, waffles, smoothes, coffee and milkshakes — just the kind of stuff to appeal the flood of school-age children that show up around 2:30 in the afternoon.

The cafe space is on a small strip of bars that include Sleepwalk, Pink Metal, and Post No Bills. Pink Metal was previously a cafe before the restaurant closed and became the bar. Next door is also a combination Middle Eastern and Mexican Grill, formerly Pita Palace.
