The annual Italian festival honoring Our Lady of Mount Carmel returns on July 10.

The annual festival dates back to 1903, celebrating San Paolino and raising funds for the local Catholic parish. For a full history of the festival, dating back more than 1,000 years in Italy, check out the history of Giglio festival Red Sauce America, our sister site.

The festival runs from July 10 to July 21, and includes carnival rides, food, live music, Italian cultural heritage, a church casino, Catholic mass, and the Giglio dance. The 70-something foot tall tower is lifted in a dance.

The capo parade takes place on Sunday, July 14 along with the giglio daance, a lift of the tower. The Children’s Lift is on July 11, and Old-Timer’s Lift on Sunday July 21. There is also live music and other entertainment.

The center of the festival is Our Lady of Mount Carmel on North 8th Street. The surrounding blocks will serve as a street fair closed to traffic for the duration of the festival.
