East Village favorite, Veselka earlier this year announced plans to open a Williamsburg location. At the time, there was some question as to where the restaurant would be.

The location at 646 Lorimer Street is currently under construction.

The space had been up for lease and advertised as 4,890 square feet. It was previously a car wash, and as a result had a large garage door along the front of the brick industrial building. Renderings show the garage door will be replaced by more conventional storefront windows and doors. However, the building will otherwise remain the industrial warehouse garage it has been, at least on the outside.

Veselka has been serving Ukrainian food in the East Village since 1954. When Russia invaded the country last year, long lines formed. The one-time late night spot had operated 24 hours a day, but an ongoing labor shortage has meant it now closes at night.
