A new, upscale market has opened in the Rheingold development at the corner of Bushwick Avenue and Montieth.
The new market is one of the first retailers in the block-filling building. The grocery includes fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, cheese, dairy, and pantry items. There is also a large selection of snack foods with many imported Asian snacks, like Meiji Hello Panda cookies.
The back wall of the store includes refrigerators well stocked with numerous cold beverages.
The grocery is likely a welcome addition to the neighborhood, especially for residents in the luxury apartment building. The complex is in a food desert. The closest supermarkets are low-cost brands that are unlikely to appeal to residents of the new building.
The massive Rheingold complex spans multiple blocks, and might eventually include a FoodTown Supermarket. Signs promising a FoodTown coming soon have been up since before the pandemic.
The building at 10 Montieth is an eight-story complex contains 392 units and was designed by ODA.
The address is 10 Montieth Street, the same as the entire complex, but the market is located on the northwest corner near Bushwick Avenue.
