The holiday weekend kicks off with two film shoots in the Dick Wolf universe closing off large portions of East Williamsburg.
Dick Wolf’s police propaganda procedurals are closing numerous streets on Tuesday and Wednesday in two different shoots. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and FBI are both filming in the neighborhood. The street closings for the two shoots intersect at Humboldt and Maujer Street.
East Williamsburg is no stranger to film shoots. However, most of these shoots occur in the industrial streets east of Bushwick Avenue rather than the residential neighborhoods.
More than 1,200 episodes of the Law & Order franchise have aired over the course of three decades. The multiple series film on location around New York City and the series have sustained many film crews as well as young actors.
FBI is a newer series. The backstory of one lead character has him coming from Bushwick.
The Dick Wolf Universe includes television shows set in Chicago, the Law & Order series, as well as FBI serials. The character Detective John Munch played by Richard Belzer also links the universe with David Simon’s Homicide series.
